Custom Landscape Design in Minnesota

Service 01

Custom Landscape Design

From the first concept sketch to a fully planted, mulched, and lit yard, we design landscapes built specifically for your home, your lifestyle, and Central Minnesota's freeze-thaw climate. We start with a site visit to take measurements, check sun and shade patterns, evaluate drainage, and listen to how you actually use your yard. Then we put together a custom 2D or 3D plan showing plant placement, bed shapes, hardscape features, lighting, and irrigation — with a clear, itemized quote so you know exactly what you're paying for. Our crew handles every step in-house: soil prep, edging, planting hardy MN-native and ornamental varieties, installing mulch or rock, and wiring up low-voltage lighting and drip irrigation. When we're done, we walk the project with you and leave a written care guide so the investment keeps looking great year after year.

  • Custom 2D/3D design plans
  • Native & hardy MN plant selection
  • Mulch, edging & soil prep
  • Landscape lighting & irrigation
Lawncare in Minnesota

Service 02

Lawncare

Weekly or bi-weekly mowing, crisp string-line edging along driveways and walks, trimming around every obstacle, and a full blow-off of clippings from hard surfaces — that's what every visit includes, every time. We run commercial-grade zero-turn mowers with blades sharpened weekly so your turf gets a clean cut instead of a torn one (which is the #1 cause of brown tips and disease in MN lawns). You get the same crew on the same day each week, set mow heights tuned for the season (taller in summer heat to shade roots, shorter for spring and fall cleanups), and reliable scheduling whether it's been raining for a week or hitting 95 degrees. No surprise fees, no skipped weeks without a call.

  • Weekly or bi-weekly visits
  • Mow, edge, trim & blow-off
  • Sharp blades for healthy grass
  • Same crew, same day
Power Wash in Minnesota

Service 03

Power Wash

We clean siding, concrete driveways, paver patios, decks, fences, and outdoor furniture using the right pressure and detergent for each surface — not a one-setting blast that strips paint and gouges wood. Vinyl and painted siding get a low-pressure soft wash with a biodegradable surfactant that kills mildew at the root instead of just blowing it off the surface (which is why your siding turns green again two months later). Concrete and pavers get hot-water surface cleaning that lifts oil, rust, and ground-in dirt without leaving wand stripes. Wood gets a measured wash followed by neutralizing rinse so the grain doesn't fuzz up. Plants, lights, and outlets are covered before we start, and we walk every surface with you before we pack up.

  • House siding (soft wash)
  • Concrete & paver driveways
  • Decks, fences & patios
  • Eco-friendly detergents
Painting in Minnesota

Service 04

Painting

Clean, durable interior and exterior paint jobs that hold up to Minnesota weather and daily life. The difference between a paint job that lasts 3 years and one that lasts 10 is prep, and that's where we spend most of our time: scraping loose paint, sanding glossy surfaces, patching holes, caulking gaps, and priming bare spots before a single finish coat goes on. We use premium low-VOC paints from Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore, two coats minimum on every project, and the right application method for each surface — brush and roll for trim and detail, sprayed-and-back-rolled for large siding runs. Inside the house, floors and furniture are covered, edges are taped, and the work area is cleaned daily so you can still live in your home while we work. Outside, we watch the weather and pause for rain or dew so coats actually cure.

  • Interior walls, trim & ceilings
  • Exterior siding, trim & decks
  • Color consultation
  • Premium, low-VOC paints
Hardscaping in Minnesota

Service 05

Hardscaping

Paver patios, retaining walls, walkways, fire pits, seat walls, pergolas, and outdoor kitchens — built the way they need to be built to last decades in Minnesota's brutal freeze-thaw cycle. The base is everything. We excavate 8–12 inches below grade, lay woven geotextile fabric to separate soil from base aggregate, then install Class 5 in 2-inch lifts and compact each lift with a plate compactor (not just the final layer). Pavers are set on a 1-inch bedding sand layer, cut tight with a wet saw for clean edges, locked in with concrete edge restraint, and finished with polymeric sand that's water-activated to lock the joints. Retaining walls over 4 feet get engineered geogrid reinforcement and proper drainage stone behind the wall so hydrostatic pressure doesn't blow them out. We pull permits when required and document every step so you have a record.

  • Paver patios & walkways
  • Retaining walls (block & boulder)
  • Fire pits & seat walls
  • Outdoor kitchens & pergolas
Masonry in Minnesota

Service 06

Masonry

Natural stone veneer, cultured stone, brick repair and tuckpointing, chimneys, fireplaces, pillars, columns, and decorative accents — done with old-world craftsmanship and modern materials. Veneer installations get a weather-resistive barrier, galvanized lath, scratch coat, and bonding mortar before stone is hand-set, so water can't get behind the face and cause failure during freeze cycles. Brick repair starts with grinding out failed mortar to proper depth, then repointing with a mortar mix matched to your existing joints for color and hardness (using the wrong mortar on old brick is one of the most common — and damaging — mistakes). Chimneys get inspected from crown to base, with crown repairs, flashing replacement, and waterproofing as needed. Every project is finished with tooled joints, cleaned stone, and a tidy site.

  • Natural & cultured stone veneer
  • Brick repair & tuckpointing
  • Chimneys & fireplaces
  • Pillars, columns & accents
Storm Damage Cleanup in Minnesota

Service 07

Storm Damage Cleanup

When a Central MN storm rolls through and leaves limbs across your driveway, a fence on the ground, or shingles in the yard, we respond within 24–48 hours — often same-day for emergencies. We clear hazards first (anything blocking access, hanging branches, exposed nails, downed power-adjacent limbs we can safely handle) so your property is safe to walk through. Then we do a full cleanup: chip and haul limbs and brush, rake debris from lawns and beds, sort recyclable building materials, and stage anything worth photographing for your insurance claim. We document everything with timestamped photos and provide a detailed itemized invoice your adjuster can work with. After cleanup we can come back to repair fences, regrade ruts, replant damaged landscaping, or get a tarp on a damaged roof while you wait for the roofer.

  • 24–48 hr response
  • Tree limbs & debris removal
  • Fence & structure cleanup
  • Insurance-friendly documentation
Junk Removal in Minnesota

Service 08

Junk Removal

Garage cleanouts, basement cleanouts, yard waste, old furniture, appliances, construction debris, hot tubs, sheds, swing sets — you point, we haul. Most jobs are same- or next-day. We bring the truck, the muscle, and the dollies; you don't lift a thing. Pricing is up-front based on volume, not weight or hidden fees, and you get a firm quote before we load anything. Whatever we can donate goes to Goodwill, Bridging, or local shelters. Metals go to a scrapper, electronics go to certified e-waste recyclers, and yard waste goes to a municipal composter. Only the truly unsalvageable ends up at the transfer station. We sweep the area before we leave so you'd never know there used to be a pile there.

  • Same/next-day pickup
  • Full-service load-out
  • Donation & recycling
  • Up-front pricing
Tree Removal in Minnesota

Service 09

Tree Removal

Safe tree removal, trimming, topping, lot clearing, and stump grinding by an experienced, fully insured crew. Before we cut anything, we walk the tree with you and the property: lean direction, dead limbs, target zones (your house, the neighbor's shed, the power line), drop zones, and access. Big trees in tight spots get climbed and removed in sections with rope rigging instead of being dropped — slower, but it's how we keep your fence, lawn, and roof intact. We lay lawn-protection mats under heavy equipment to prevent rutting, chip brush on-site, and can haul logs away or stack them for firewood — your call. Stump grinding goes 6–12 inches below grade so you can sod or replant. We're fully insured (general liability plus workers' comp) and can provide certificates on request before the job starts.

  • Removal, trimming & topping
  • Stump grinding
  • Lot clearing
  • Fully insured crew
Fall Cleanup in Minnesota

Service 10

Fall Cleanup

Full bag-and-haul leaf removal, bed cleanout, perennial cutback, gutter clearing, and winterization — everything your property needs to head into a Minnesota winter clean and come out of it healthy. Leaves left on the lawn over winter smother grass, breed snow mold, and create a wet matted mess to deal with in April; we blow, vacuum, rake, and haul every leaf instead of just mulching them into the lawn. Garden beds get perennials cut back to the right height, dead annuals pulled, edges re-cut crisp, and a fresh layer of mulch if needed. Gutters get cleared and flushed so ice dams don't form over winter. Hoses are drained, irrigation lines can be blown out, and patio furniture stored or covered. One visit, one invoice, ready for snow.

  • Full leaf removal & haul-away
  • Bed & perennial cutback
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Winter prep checklist
Fertilizing in Minnesota

Service 11

Fertilizing

Multi-round fertilizer and weed-control programs tuned specifically for Central Minnesota lawns and our short growing season. Most lawns get our 5-step program: early spring pre-emergent (to stop crabgrass before it germinates), late spring fertilizer with broadleaf weed control, summer slow-release feeding designed not to burn in heat, fall fertilizer to build root reserves, and a late-fall winterizer that loads the lawn with potassium for cold tolerance. We use slow-release granular fertilizers rather than cheap quick-greens that spike growth and crash, plus targeted spot-spray for weeds rather than blanket-spraying the whole yard. Grub control is an optional add-on in June. If weeds pop up between rounds, service calls are free — just give us a call and we come back out.

  • 5-step seasonal program
  • Pre- & post-emergent weed control
  • Slow-release fertilizers
  • Grub control add-on
Snow Removal in Minnesota

Service 12

Snow Removal

Plan winter access for your home or business with residential and commercial snow removal. Request driveway or parking-lot plowing, walkway and entry clearing, and salt or sand application for the surfaces you need covered. We review property access, obstacles, slopes and snow-storage space when preparing your estimate. Your written proposal confirms the price, coverage dates, snowfall trigger, route timing and terms for storm follow-up or extra visits. Seasonal and per-event options depend on your property and available route capacity. Tell us your business hours and pedestrian-access needs before accepting service so the clearing scope is clear from the start.

  • Residential & commercial
  • Plow, shovel, snowblow
  • Requested salt & sand
  • Property-specific agreement
Christmas & Holiday Lighting in Minnesota

Service 13

Christmas & Holiday Lighting

Professional Christmas and holiday light design, installation, mid-season maintenance, take-down, and off-season storage — so you get the magazine-cover house without ever climbing a ladder. We use commercial-grade LED bulbs (warm white, pure white, or full color) that are brighter, more efficient, and far more durable than what's on the shelf at the big-box store. Strands are custom-cut to your roof line so there are no dangling ends or visible plugs. Lights are attached with clips designed for shingles and gutters — never staples or nails that damage your roof. We test every strand before installing, install before Thanksgiving on most homes, and during the season if anything stops working we come back and fix it free. After New Year's, we take everything down, sort it, and store your lights labeled and ready for next year.

  • Custom design
  • Commercial-grade LEDs
  • Mid-season maintenance
  • Take-down & storage
Window Cleaning in Minnesota

Service 14

Window Cleaning

At TruScapes, we don't just spray the glass and leave. We take the time to detail-clean every window, including hand-cleaning around the seals, edges, and corners where dirt, pollen, and buildup collect. We carefully clean the white window frames and tracks when accessible, restoring a brighter, cleaner appearance to the entire window — not just the glass. Using purified water systems and professional techniques, our focus is on a spotless, streak-free finish with no residue left behind. The result is crystal-clear windows, cleaner frames, and a better looking home from every angle.

  • Hand-cleaned seals, edges & corners
  • Frames & tracks detailed
  • Purified water system
  • Streak-free, residue-free finish
Landscape Installation in Minnesota

Service 15

Landscape Installation

Installation is where a plan becomes a property. We handle the whole build: rough and finish grading, soil amendment, bed excavation and shaping, steel or spade-cut edging, tree and shrub planting, perennial beds, sod or seed, mulch or decorative rock, and low-voltage lighting. Because we own our own skid steers, mini excavator, and dump trailers, large installs don't stall waiting on rented equipment or a third-party crew. We stage material deliveries so your driveway isn't blocked for a week, protect existing turf with plywood tracks, and finish each day with the site cleaned up. Plantings are chosen for the specific microclimate of your lot — how much sun a bed actually gets, how water moves across it, and how much salt spray it takes from the street in winter. Everything we plant is hardy to USDA zone 3b/4a so it survives a Minnesota winter, not just a Minnesota summer.

  • Rough & finish grading
  • Tree, shrub & perennial planting
  • Sod, seed, mulch & rock
  • Owned equipment — no rental delays
Paver Patio Installation in Minnesota

Service 16

Paver Patio Installation

A paver patio is only as good as what's under it, and in Minnesota that means the base does the real work. We excavate 8–12 inches below finished grade, lay woven geotextile to keep subsoil from pumping up into the aggregate, then build the base with Class 5 placed in 2-inch lifts and plate-compacted at every lift — not just once at the top. Pavers are set on a screeded inch of bedding sand, cut on a wet saw for tight, clean edges, locked with concrete edge restraint, and finished with water-activated polymeric sand. Grade is pitched a consistent 1–2% away from the house so meltwater leaves instead of pooling and refreezing. We work primarily with Belgard, Borgert, and Anchor products, all freeze-thaw rated for this climate, and we bring physical samples to your property so you're choosing colors in your own light instead of under showroom fluorescents.

  • 8–12" compacted Class 5 base
  • Geotextile separation layer
  • Polymeric sand joints
  • Belgard, Borgert & Anchor pavers
Retaining Wall Installation in Minnesota

Service 17

Retaining Wall Installation

Retaining walls fail for one reason far more often than any other: water. A wall holding back saturated soil in a Minnesota spring is fighting hydrostatic pressure it was never designed for, and it leans, bulges, then goes. We build walls the way they're supposed to be built — a compacted aggregate leveling pad below frost-affected soil, clean drainage stone behind the full height of the wall, a perforated drain tile daylighted to a low point, geotextile wrapping the stone so silt can't clog it, and geogrid reinforcement tied back into the retained soil on anything over four feet. Block walls use Versa-Lok, Anchor, or similar engineered systems; boulder and natural stone walls are hand-set and keyed. Walls over four feet require a permit and engineered drawings in most Central Minnesota cities — we handle that process rather than building under the limit to avoid it.

  • Drain tile & clean drainage stone
  • Geogrid reinforcement over 4 ft
  • Block, boulder & natural stone
  • Permits & engineering handled
Walkways & Paver Driveways in Minnesota

Service 18

Walkways & Paver Driveways

Walkways and driveways take more abuse than any other hardscape on a Minnesota property — foot traffic, vehicle load, plow blades, and salt. We build them accordingly. Driveways get a deeper base than a patio, typically 12 inches or more of compacted Class 5, with thicker driveway-rated pavers and a soldier course locked in concrete edge restraint so plowing doesn't peel the edges. Walkways are pitched to shed water away from the foundation and set with consistent joint spacing so the surface stays smooth underfoot. Steps are built to a consistent rise and run — uneven treads are the single most common complaint we get called out to fix on someone else's work. We can also integrate low-voltage path lighting and heated snow-melt zones on entries and short runs where winter safety matters most.

  • Driveway-rated pavers & deep base
  • Consistent step rise & run
  • Plow-resistant edge restraint
  • Optional path lighting & snow melt
Outdoor Living Spaces in Minnesota

Service 19

Outdoor Living Spaces

An outdoor living space is a hardscape build with utilities, structure, and detail work layered on top — and it has to be planned as one project rather than assembled piece by piece over a few summers. We design and build wood-burning and gas fire pits, linear fireplaces, built-in grills and outdoor kitchens with counters and storage, seat walls with lit caps, pergolas and shade structures, and travertine or paver pool decks. Gas lines, electrical for lighting and appliances, and any water lines are roughed in before the surface goes down, so nothing gets cut apart later. Materials get chosen for how they behave here: travertine stays cooler underfoot around a pool, natural stone caps handle salt better than some manufactured products, and every joint and footing is detailed to shed water before it can freeze inside the assembly.

  • Fire pits & outdoor fireplaces
  • Outdoor kitchens & grill stations
  • Seat walls, pergolas & shade
  • Travertine & paver pool decks
Grading & Drainage in Minnesota

Service 20

Grading & Drainage

Water in the wrong place ruins landscaping, floods basements, kills turf, and destroys hardscape from underneath. Most drainage problems in Central Minnesota come down to three things: negative grade against the foundation, downspouts dumping at the wall, and heavy clay subsoil that will not accept water fast enough during spring melt. We start by watching where water actually goes — sometimes during a rain, sometimes with a laser level and a hose — then fix the cause rather than the symptom. Solutions include regrading to establish positive fall away from the house, building shallow vegetated swales that move water along a route you choose, installing French drains and perforated drain tile in washed stone, burying downspout extensions to daylight or a pop-up emitter, setting catch basins in low spots, and installing dry wells where there's nowhere to daylight. Every fix is graded and seeded or sodded back so it looks like landscaping, not a repair.

  • Positive grade away from foundation
  • French drains & drain tile
  • Swales, catch basins & dry wells
  • Buried downspout extensions
Commercial Property Care in Minnesota

Service 21

Commercial Property Care

Commercial properties need one accountable contractor, not five vendors who each blame the other. TruScapes handles complete grounds management for offices, clinics, retail centers, multi-family buildings, churches, and industrial sites: turf maintenance and fertilization, bed care and seasonal color, irrigation checks, hardscape repair, spring and fall cleanups, and full winter snow and ice management with documented service times. Property managers get a single point of contact, a written scope with defined visit frequencies, and photo documentation on request — which matters when you need to show a board or an insurer that a lot was cleared and salted at a specific hour. We carry general liability coverage and provide certificates of insurance before work starts. Contracts can be structured seasonally, annually, or per-service depending on how your budget cycles run.

  • One contract, one point of contact
  • Documented snow & ice service
  • Certificates of insurance provided
  • Seasonal or annual agreements
